What a weekend:

Childress is fired in a replay of the Cowboys/Wade Phillips firing (A coach no one respects leading an underachieving team that just got wiped out by the Green Bay Packers); hard to say who is the most underachieving team between the Vikings and the Cowboys this year, both have great talent yet are complete messes;

Vince Young flips out, throwing his jersey and shoulder pads into the crowd when he was taken out of the game (has anyone EVER seen this happen in a game?) regardless of his injury he's apparently gone;

Oakland DL Seymour bitch slaps Ben Roethlisberger, in a move applauded by fathers of daughters everywhere, seconded by the fact Seymour wasn't even suspended for the move (must be other Big Ben haters up there in the league office);

Two weeks ago the NY Giants were rolling with five wins in a row and looked like a solid SB contender; two division losses later (to the Cowboys and Eagles) and now the loss of their two top WRs (Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks) they are desperately treading water; they need to go 3-0 their next three games (Jags, Skins and Vikings) as the two games after that are vs the Eagles and Packers...

What's freaky is the Packers lead in net points by a good margin.  Both them and Chicago have similar remaining schedules, so it may just come down to the last game of the year between them.

Bears are really my surprise team of the year.  I had high hopes for them last year with the acquisition of Cutler, 2nd year of Forte, turning Hester into a WR, etc.  They majorly underachieved, however, and the Cutler for Orten trade off with the Broncos looked like a bad deal. This year has really been much more of what I expected than last year, I was just a year off. The key has been their DEF which has really stepped it up this season.

The Freeport Buccaneers finally break out with a 109 point game...and Eclavdra's giants score 123 to win the game.  Dang it!

It's not that I don't like Mike Martz (or his style of coaching), but now that the Bears have calmed down a bit and use a balanced attack, they've performed better.

Just because Cutler can throw for 400 yards per game doesn't mean he has to...

Punched my playoff ticket this week.....waiting for the inevitable post season meltdown that has led to one 3rd place finish in the last three years...... :cry:

If you want parity, check out the standings in the Luddite league, with two weeks to play ANY team can still win the top spot. By far the most competetive and difficult league I've ever been in!!!

1.        Puguglies                                            7-5-0          .583        1503.20

I need to apologize to somebody, JG, I believe.  I was confident the Falcons would lose to the Packers, but it wasn't meant to be.  I am pleased the Falcons won, but regret my prediction was erroneous.  Sorry.  :cry:

Let's go, Philly. The Cubes have invested heavily in Eagles this week, and need a big game to make the playoffs.

Vick, Maclin, Jackson and Akers - Houston really does have a problem.

Any takers for Tom Brady?  He's been sitting on waivers since December 9.

My teams would have no use for him now.  :roll:

I am just glad my teams suffering in both Acaeum related leagues has been ended by the Cubes, the Pugs and both of Badmikes teams amongst others.

The last 3-4 weeks SOS for the Lugs and Sharks had the teams facing the toughest teams in both leagues.

It did not go well at all... in fact it was ugly.

Thankfully, me teams did much better in my money leagues. 8)

I picked him up so he can sit his pretty boy ass on my bench for the playoffs and watch a real man (Phil Rivers) QB.....

I just hope that the Bears can shut him down this Sunday...

The Acaeum  League's top twenty in scoring. Surprises include Arian Foster at #2, Hillis at #10, Vick at #8, QB's Cassell and Fitzpatrick ahead of Schaub, Cutler, Romo, Favre, Rothlisberger.  Also surprising only one WR (Harvin) in the top ten, and that's mostly because of his return yardage.  Chris Johnson nowhere to be seen, Adrian Peterson dropped quite a bit.  Chris Johnson had such a lousy year guys like Ahmad Bradshaw, Jamal Charles, Lesean McCoy, and Maurice Jones-Drew are also in front of him.

My surprises of the year would be Vick (not even starting at the beginning of the year), Peyton Hillis (ditto), or Arian Foster (I don't think anyone expected a top ten showing from him, much less #2 in the league).  Disappointments would be Randy Moss, Rb's Pierre Thomas, Beanie Wells, Shonn Greene and Ryan Matthews, and WR Brandon Marshall (all projected in the top 25, all falling far, far below expectations)

1. Rodgers QB 274
2. Foster RB 264
3. Brees QB
4. Manning QB
5. Rivers QB
6. Brady QB
7. Orton QB
8. Vick QB
9. Manning QB
10. Hillis RB
11. Peterson RB
12. Palmer QB
13. Flacco QB
14. Ryan QB
15. Cassell QB
16. Harvin WR
17. McNabb QB
18. Fitzpatrick QB
19. Schaub QB
20. Cutler QB

Regarding Tom Brady - just curious about the waiver order this week. I had a request in for Brady, and it didn't go through - the Block Wipes picked him up. The message I got was that Brady went to anoher team who had a higher waiver authority.

Can someone explain how the waiver priority works? I could understand it if Brady was picked up by someone below me on the table... but the Wipes are in first place.

I'd much rather have him starting on my team than on the Wipes' bench...

Regards

Mike

I think it has a lot to do with the frequency of pickups, but i've never quite figured it out myself.  I hadn't picked anyone up in several weeks so somehow my priority got bumped up.  All kidding aside I'll probably start Brady for the playoffs....Rivers is starting to have a tough time with no running game and all his WR's injured.

I dunno, Mike. I haven't picked anyone up for a few weeks either, and I've made 22 overall moves against your 24.

There must be an algorithm that controls it, but I wonder if it's screwed up somehow - normally in a waiver league, the system lets you know where you are in the order. I'm wondering if you put the pickup request into the system before I did (which negates the whole point of waivers), or maybe it's done alphabetically on team name.

Either way, I was just curious how the system worked - I coudn't figure out what it was that put you ahead of me in the priority.

Regards
Mike
