You have closely examined items with such provenance before?

No need for close examination. Rat f@#$ed items have obvious results. For starters, they look worn. :)

Having looked more closely at the photos, it’s more than just crumbly, it’s been heavily abused and for years. There is staining on the pages like someone’s bladder gave out during a pretty intense battle with whichever demons they were dealing with. Did anyone else notice that it’s completely spineless too? And what’s with the page that looks like someone wiped their arse on it?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Maybe that was a griffin wiping up after an encounter with some kids.

A little thread necromancy for FTL, lol.

Not even sure this is "laughable", but damn if this is not one of the weirdest things I have ever seen for sale on Ebay.

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Not sure if that a result of some really strange sun fading, a printing issue, of someone just colored the cover with highlighters(there is coloring inside the book, so maybe?).  But the back cover is completely normal looking.  Just very strange,

Holy crap. :/ That doesn't look sun damaged... it looks like a color plate error of some sort.  It's not a complete negative image (I put it into my art program and flipped the colors, and that's even weirder), but it definitely looks like a wacky print defect.  It's also not a first print, it's a third or fourth print (just to get ahead of the "prototype" folks, of which I've ashamedly been one of).

Check out the seller's description regarding the writing in this one:

I think that's Jack Chick's copy, lol.

Quite late to this one (haven't been around in a minute or several hundred). Original auction is no longer there, so I can't get a good look, but my first glance suggests to me that the cyan and yellow plates were switched at the press. That would be a nice printing error for those that like that sort of thing.

Not to pick on this individual seller, but this is something that drives me crazy and I see far too often on Ebay.

This set is in pretty decent condition overall, but it is neither "mint" by any definition, as it has obvious and visible wear/damage to everything(especially the box itself), nor is it 100% complete(it's missing the poster).
