I'll post here for the sake of transparency as you requested, benjoshua.

I work for an ad agency and have constant dealings with commercial printers. Last April, we had to make a limited run of thirty 24"x36" Durst glicée prints for one of our clients. It was a run of 30 signed and numbered commemorative pieces for a local food and wine festival. The prints looked great, and the original painting was very well reproduced by the process. We have one hanging in the lobby of our offices.

Price: $15 each. Those were "friend" prices from a printer with whom we've worked on a fairly regular basis. But good prices are out there to be found.

I'd be happy to put grodog (or whoever) directly in touch with the printer to see what kind of deal could be stricken. Naturally, I wouldn't think to do it through my day job, as that would be just one more middleman.

The information is at your disposal, if you need it.

If this works out well you could do it annually maybe using a different artist each time.

Yikes!  Let work keep you from the Acaeum for a week, and find a brand new 7-page thread.

I think this is a fantastic idea, and am definitely in for one, price be damned!

like what everyone's suggestions are on the layout.  The only concept I would put forward would be that the artwork tells a little story. Perhaps melding it into the site's use a little more.

Just brainstorming here...the aforementioned party "ventures into bowels of the Acaeum to quench their thirst for knowledge and seize the holy grail(s) of collecting."

We could have a woodgrain and an orange B3 atop the dragon's horde of treasure.  :?:

We now have 50 different people requesting a copy of this limited edition, Erol Otus print!  Wow! 8O

Remember, we are only ordering 50 copies. Unless someone drops out and no one takes their place, no one will be getting two copies.  People interested should continue to register their interest on this thread as that will be the basis for creating a waiting list as it is likely someone will not be able to financially follow-through on their commitment.  This list is not likely the basis for determining who gets what print number.

The list I have, in the order of their registered interest:

1. Benjoshua
2. Mars
3. smarmy1
4. le Rahib
5. bombadil

The EO Committee met tonight by chat and everything is still trending positive.  Unfortunately, we do not have many specifics yet.  The best news is that we are in contact with the artist, and we believe we can reach a workable agreement.

In order to do everything and do it well, it may be Christmas before this project is complete.  Patience will be important in the project.  We hope to give weekly reports on our progress which will happen each weekend.  You would be proud of the committee.

The EO Committee hopes people will continue to register their interest for the formation of the waiting list.  I'll try to keep that updated as best I can, but this week is a little crazy.

Do NOT send me any money!  I will let everyone know when that time comes.

Thank you all for sharing in a wild and wonderful dream!  We are working to make it real.
