You can say it was Iraq, but notice how the media has completely shut up about it since. We were beginning to withdraw with or without change in DC.

It was all about the economy. People ultimately vote with their wallet. Bush failed to catch the economic disaster and the party paid for it. Then again, Republicans just were never solidly in McCain's corner.

They trotted out a guy who probably never had a real chance.

I wouldn't say that McCain never had a real chance. And I say this as a born-and-bred democrat out of Chicago...

He has credibility as a decorated war veteran and a senator. I firmly believe that he saw this as his last chance at the gold ring, and went for it.

It's not as much what went wrong for McCain (i.e. Palin) as what went right for Obama (pretty much everything). McCain never seemed to get enough traction to keep his campaign moving.

And if it didn't get your kid back?

Or if you found out you had the wrong person?

Then what?

This was not an exercise in "if I had the right guy." It was an expose on would I do it and what the ramifications are.

Nice.

But wasn't there some other guy buying up every white box in sight to try and drive the price up. A few years ago, I think.

Or was that David aka Harami and I never put that together....

You might be thinking of Dave Whitfield aka Cougarrinard who was buying up all the H1 sets for a long time.

Kingofpain89 wrote:I for one wholeheartedly believe that we went to, and landed men on the moon.  I've read plenty of articles about why and how the U.S. could have faked the moon landings but frankly I dont believe it is even remotely possible to fake something like that and keep it from getting out to the general public.  I dont care how much money someone throws at you or how big a threat someone makes to keep you from talking....something as big as that would get out somehow.

I'm not going to go into all of the reasons why people think the moon landings were fake or attempt to debunk anything because its already been done enough by other people much more intelligent than myself.  However, you asked the question above "Why havent we gone back?"  Pretty simple answer if you ask me.  What else could we possibly gain by going back to the Moon at this juncture?  Only two things pop out at me.  1) Dark side observatory.  2) Launch pad for future interplanetary missions.  An observatory on the dark side of the moon would be fantastic but unbelievably expensive.  As for the launch pad, again....expensive.  As much money as we have spent on the ISS (somewhere in the tens of billions of dollars so far) it would cost quite a bit more to fund either of the above ventures.  With the sad state of the world economy I dont see either of these happening in my lifetime.  Nor do I see a manned mission to Mars occurring anytime soon.

The Theory of Conspiracy Theories holds that each additional person you bring into a conspiracy increases the risk of discovery exponentially.  Look at the Madoff swindle....there is no way it would have gone on as long and reached the huge numbers it did with multiple conspirators.....Madoff was successful by the fact it was him and him alone (although evidence is emerging his wife may have known). If you think of the sheer amount of people who would have had to be complicit ina fake moon landing, increase that exponentially, you see that it's a crock to believe definitie evidence wouldn't have emerged by now. Seeing as it has been 40 years and nothing has blown wide open yet, I think we are safe to say the moon landing really happened.

Fake Moon Landing nuts are the same as JFK nuts...no matter what evidence ever comes up, it will be disbelieved due to stubborness more than anything else.
