. . . and after that, to Denny's.  At least, assuming we can find the Denny's . . . .

And they do serve a fine breakfast sandwich at Whataburger.  That's where we went last year, at around 2 am, after waiting for 30 minutes at Denny's for a glass of water.

I remember very well the Denny's debacle. Sometimes the joy in finally eating is the journey itself.

OK, just emailed my event description to Doug.

Game Title: Eye of the Dragon
Game System: AD&D 1e
Number of players: 5-8
Pregens/Level of characters: yes / 5th~7th
World/Setting: Generic

Game Info: After five long years fighting abroad in the armies of Lord Cargathain, you are finally returning home to Castle Nagasheen, to claim the promised reward for your service.  But you find Seahold in ruin, and the castle barred against you, an unknown enemy within.  The castle should have been impregnable . . . how could it have fallen?  Armed with a five-year old map, you must enter the castle, defeat the enemy, and unmask a traitor . . . who may be closer than you ever expected!

Additional Game Information:  In the late 1970s, Tracy and Laura Hickman published two modules, Pharaoh and Rahasia, under their imprint Daystar West.  Both modules went on to be published by TSR after Tracy joined the company.  But the long-planned sequel to Pharaoh and Rahasia, Eye of the Dragon, was left unfinished.  Finding the original notes last year, the Hickmans finally released Eye of the Dragon in a very limited run, and this is your chance to play this "lost adventure"!

2015 NTX Event List
Bill Barsh / Pacesetter Games & Simulations

Fifth Annual AD&D Open Tournament
Game Title: TM6 Felhorde  (AD&D Open Tournament)
Game System: First Edition AD&D
Number of Players: Eight (8)
Pregens/Level of Characters: 3rd -- 5th; Provided
World Setting: Darkland
Time Needed: Four (4) Hours
Sessions: Wednesday (afternoon [ approx.  p.m.]), Thursday (noon), Friday (morning slot)

Short Description: Amidst the horrific carnage, Eruptor, the red dragon, lay dead. The race to recover the dragon's treasure was on and a group of heroes penetrated the lair only to find most of the treasure already stolen. A group of crag gnomes fled into the deep, loaded with a dragon's horde, as the adventurers, battered from their ordeal, fled the trap-filled lair. As the PCs camped and recovered, a rush of wind extinguished their fire. Before it could be relit, a flame streamed from the darkness and the fire pit blazed with light. In its glow, the red dragon, Eruptor, growled and spoke. His message is simple: find his treasure or die trying. The adventurers must pursue the crag gnomes into the deep chasms to their underground world.
This is a single round event -- only register for one session. There are prizes for each team, based on finish.

B2 Beyond the Caves of Chaos
Game Title: Beyond the Caves of Chaos
Game System: Fifth Edition D&D
Number of Players: Eight (8)
Pregens/Level of Characters: 3rd -- 5th; Provided
World Setting: Greyhawk (Darkland)
Time Needed: Four (4) Hours or until we pass out
Session: Saturday night, 7 pm start

Short Description: The caves of chaos have been cleansed but an intriguing tunnel was found in the process. Seemingly blocked to bar access, the tunnel plunges deep into the earth. Just inside a black, marble obelisk rests in the center of the passage. A single ruin -- the mark of the dread archmage Hilgdred -- is the only mark upon the obelisk. Of what concern can the storm wizard have within the deep.
This event uses the Fifth Edition D&D rules (although you do not need to know them beforehand). As usual, the DM will provide a certain spirit -- otherwise, byob.

Dungeon Path Demo and Open Tournament
Game Title: Dungeon Path SRPG
Game System: Dungeon Path SRPG by Pacesetter Games & Simulations
Number of Players: Entire Convention!
Pregens/Level of Characters: 1st level provided
World Setting: N/A
Time Needed: Approximately 30 -- 60 minutes
Session: Runs all convention long

Short Description: Pacesetter presents a new strategic RPG (SRPG) where players duel one or more opposing players in a fantasy setting-based arena. Each attendee will receive a basic rules and a character card in their NTX swag bag (given to you at registration). Challenge other attendees and report the results at the Pacesetter booth during the convention. Each time you play, win or lose, you can draw another character card -- there are eight in all. The character cards are designed to fit in your badge holder. Each battle should take no longer than 30 minutes. Also, come and learn the advanced game at the Pacesetter demo table during the convention. The advanced game includes expanded rules for dungeon exploration and solo play.

Dungeon War Demo
Game Title: Dungeon War
Game System: Dungeon War CCG by Pacesetter Games & Simulations
Number of Players: Two
Pregens/Level of Characters: N/A
World Setting: N/A
Time Needed: Approximately 45 - 90 minutes
Session: Demo sessions run all convention long

Short Description: Pacesetter presents a new CCG where players delve into dungeons stocked by the opposing player in search of treasure. Sample decks provided at the Pacesetter demo table. (Sorry, no further details released until the convention).

Eruptor's Vengeance is still my favorite of your modules Bill so I am looking forward to this a great deal. Between that and 'Eye of the Dragon' I will finally have a chance to see the dragon half of D&D in an actual game :)

That was such a pain in the ass.  First we spend thirty minutes looking for the IHOP that clearly showed up on Google maps but somehow went missing from our space-time continuum.  I blame the aliens.  Then the Denny's nightmare....I will never step foot in a Denny's again because of that mess.  I'll go out of my way to find a fly-infested, cigarette smelling Waffle House or eat my shoe before considering a Denny's ever again.

Hey all,

Can anyone provide additional detail about the Marriott with respect to the Airport - is a car needed or is it a walk?

I'm trying to get out there - it's a long shot - and I'm trying to gather the financials...

Thanks!

It is a very easy and short complimentary shuttle ride from the airport.  No car necessary.  There are hours of operation that you may want to double check but unless you arrive extremely early or late in the day, you should be okay.

The Marriott is right south of the airport, about five minutes away, and there is a complimentary shuttle that takes you there and back, you cannot walk from the airport.  No need for a car once you arrive, all the events are at the hotel and eating establishments are withing walking distance.
