It’s not that the bad interactions outweigh the good.  It’s that the perceived accountability is “go fuck yourself” for the bad.  Racism is real in the USA, it systemic, and this upheaval is cyclical.  It seems to get a little less “extreme” every decade, so progress I guess?  I think laying the blame soley at the feet of the media is disingenuous.  The media has existed in some fashion forever.  Protecting it was even part of the founding thought process.  Blame the fucking internet and anonymity and the ability to say shit to an audience that if you said in person would get you punched in the mouth some years ago.  Civility, meh?

Anyway, sorry, wrong forum, wrong set of concerns.  If someone comes at you sideways with shit you 110% don’t agree with, choke back the “fight” response and listen for a minute.  You still will probably disagree but we’ll all be in a better place.  People just want to be heard.

Oh, sure as he!! racism is real in America, and sure as hell people have the right to complain. But this isn't a police issue. The high profile police encounters that have been televised have all proven to have been lied about in the media with the intention of ramping up race riots, division and hatred. The mainstream media is specifically and intentionally divisive. If you've grown up with it, you won't see it so much, but if you're an outsider and you travel to the US, you really see it. You can feel the divide and the hatred many citizens carry every day. It is part of the fabric of society and it goes undetected I think by most.

However, if you're going to riot and burn, why do it in your own neighbourhood? If you're going to destroy peoples' shops and livelihood, why do it to the people who serve you? Why not take it to the people of influence?

Yeah, wrong forum for such things, however, I suspect if you post on the right forums for such things you end up on a watch list somewhere.
