As for my training to get into shape for Gencon, I have actually starting jogging.  Yes, the back surgery was a success but only recently have I felt strong enough to start jogging.  While I had the best time at Gencon 2007 I was frequently very tired (had the surgery 2months after Gencon 2007) so this time I want to be fresh and be able to keep up with Alan.

Who knows if successful maybe I will run the MDS next year.               not a chance in this world I will run the MDS in any year.

Mike and I have decided to bring a couple of those motorized trikes to ride around on during the convention so there wont be any possibility of blisters or other injuries and we won't lag behind.  Also thinking of wearing a diaper so I won't have to delay anyone by stopping off at the restrooms.  Pretty sure that with the cart and the stench that people will quickly get out of my way.

Already in training....starting carbbing up with a bacon cheesburger just yesterday!!!  I'll be in good enough shape to have one every morning by the time we hit Gencon.

Bracton wrote:I stand in awe of those whose spouses and/or significant others not only support their gaming/collecting habits, but in fact attend GenCon.  My wife came to GenCon with me once years ago, and suffice it to say, the experience will not be repeated.  On the other hand, she doesn't at all object to my going, as by so doing she acquires currency which she can then spend on her own, girls' weekends (including twice -- twice -- trips to Scotland; and she only knows of the joys of Springbank because of me . . . .)

On another note, I am glad to see WOTC and GenCon made up.  While there isn't all that much for me in WOTC stuff, the long-term financial viability of the convention would have been put into question if they couldn't come to terms.  I suspect there was just too much money to be lost if they didn't sponsor.

I had to basically bribe my wife so I could go.....let her bring her little sister, and tell her about the shopping at Indy.   Guys really the downtown mall is very cool and within walking distance (actually connected) to several of the hotels, lots of shops and such to keep the missus busy while we are having a good time.  I'm pretty sure they have a Spa there also.   Actually that's one of the reasons I thought to ask my wife this year because it seemed there was so much to do within the downtown area, that way she could think she's keeping an eye on me while in reality I'm pulling all the strings.

you have no idea how lame that sounds :)

youre only supposed to "carb up" if youre actually going to burn it up immediately thereafter, lil puppy, not like in 3 months time

Not me, like a squirrel eating acorns for the winter, I put down a base layer of "Bacon Cheeseburger" fat which allows me to draw off it for energy during times of frantic activitiy, i.e. going through stacks of used RPG items trying to locate the gold nugget among the leavings.  You'll see how it works while you flail helplessly at my mastery at searching the bins..... :D

I think I'll go see my good buddy Paul (Crazy Egor) before GenCon this year... ;) Wonder what he's got hiding in his stash(es).

Looks like serleran is going to leave us holding the bag this year.  That's pure evil, serleran.  May a pack of rabid shrews pounce upon you.

Game Update:

Looks like we'll be playing in two sessions of 9 players each.

More details to come. I'll be in touch.

OK, we have our Booth allocation.

We are stand 2430, only little, but only 1 booth and a corridor  down from Crazy Egors, so we should see some footfall.

Also it allows me to keep dashing over and searching thru stuff :)

Cheers,
malc
