I understand your reply and your reasoning.
However, I do not agree that the order should be held intact for every print from now on based only on a person's response timing during a one-week time frame to a thread question a year ago.
As for me; I was on board for the first project as soon as I read the original thread.
However, there were already several pages of posts to that thread before I was even aware of it.
A few more days of field work (out of the office) and I never would have been on the list at all.
If I had read that thread a moment after it was created, would I then be a top 1-5 name forever?
What about the long term Acaeum members who did not log onto the Acaeum during that one-week time period?
Some Acaeum members not on the current limited list have been members of the Acaeum for many years and might have been otherwise occupied for that week and if so, based on what I read so far; those folks will loose out on all future projects based on not sitting at the keyboard and specifically on this board, ready to post 24/7/365?
And IIRC:
The method for deciding what print number would be given to each subscriber was not decided until MUCH later anyway.
Another point I wish to make is that some folks who LOVE the idea of this type of project bowed out of that first project due to lack of interest in the art itself, or in the artist doing the work.
So; assuming there will be a limited number of prints made on every project from now on (around 50-75 copies), are those folks who did not like the first project screwed on every project by other artists in the future?
Forever?
What about future members and current NEW members who might eventually have just as much time and effort invested in this site as members who are on the list?
And here is another concern…
What about the fact that a few folks who signed on early for the first project who at that time had NOTHING invested in this site and to this day STILL have nothing invested in this site outside that project?
They are taking up spaces for Long Term productive Acaeum members…
I honestly think the items above and other ideas should be considered before setting any rules in stone.
Some members of the committee have stated that this first project was a total learning experience.
It seems to have worked out exceptionally well, but (
IMO) much of that success has more to with the great flexibility of the committee willing to change as needed.
There had to be a lot of give and take during the entire process or it would most certainly have failed many times over.
And one more point: This project idea (Generally speaking) was intended as a tribute to ALL Acaeum members, not just for those first 65 members who first posted responses to a thread during a VERY Short period of time.
If the top 65 folks on the first list shall always be the top 65 folks on every list for every project forever, then what the hell is that all about?
My last point for now is that I (amongst many others here I am sure) would want to be on EVERY list every TIME there is a new project, but I do not know that that is a fair way to do this.
