1e than
4e, I'm a bit stumped. Especially when 1/2lings got this 2 die roll mechanic in
4e.
And last I checked, the higher armor class was harder to hit in 5e. That doesn't sound like
1e. ;-)
But I'm a fire-starter, I like all the editions to some degree and have favorites for various reasons, and like to start and flame the edition-war arguements. :-)
Seriously though, not seeing how 5e is closer to
1e than
4e... Maybe faster play than
4e but nothing that makes me feel like the 1980s again.

It plays similiar to
1e in that if you took a
1e dungeon ran 5e characters through it with nothing else changed but to use 5e monster stats the outcome would be similar. This was not the case with with
4e. Of course the details are different than
1e. 5e has a lot more character customization compared to
1e. Ascending AC., etc. Which probably make the game unappealing to a fan of
1e. Nothing wrong with that we all have our preferences.
What it does mean that the adventures made for 5e are readily useable for
1e. In fact the preferred format at the moment is to shove all the stats into an appendix and just highlight what has stats in bold.
