At over $1,700 that seems to be a pretty expensive crap shoot for me, but hopefully it they are legit and whoever wins them, gets what they think they're getting.

Thank you and great work on this bclarkie and I very much agree with you.

Well at least it would be very likely that eBay would side with the buyer to get the money back if this is a forgery and the buyer can figure that out in a reasonable amount of time.

Wow, those must be the most expensive character sheets I've seen!  Also, the auction bot seems to show a white box with supplements and apparently the Greyhawk reference sheets in there.  Bet that goes for a lot too just based on the Greyhawk sheets.

Does look like the Greyhawk Reference Sheets are incomplete.  There should be three pages, and it looks like there's just one there.

On second look, I think you are correct.  I didn't notice that bit.  Those sheets are something I haven't seen in person yet.

Upon further review, I am now realizing that the print runs off the bottom edge(bleeds). This could not be done with a standard printer or copy machine. So mimeograph or offset printer would be the most likely method of production.

Hopefully they are not fake, though I have no intention of finding out on my own. Either way, let this thread serve as possible enlightment to those who have never considered forgeries may exist.

Cheers!

I thought I recognized your name from a seller that sold some of these sheets a number of years ago. I'm curious how did you come by the ones you originally had? Do you still have some left?

Edit: I re-read the first part of the thread since I came in to this late, so I see where you mentioned that.

Gerald Reis Design

Not to feed the forgery machine, as I have no idea, but he is actually a current graphic design artist....

I emailed the chap and he says it's not him.  Either way, I hope the winner was an Acaeum member so we can get more info once they get the sheets.

that's interesting. If it's the same, I wonder if the Acaeum member who originally won it could say if there's something wrong with it.

It's completely different looking. The seller states that it is out of that same box E Gygax verified as correct. 27 sheets

Well, truth be told, the box is kind of meaningless. Really, anything could have been shipped in the box.

With that said, you're right that the sheets are different.  It shares the same copyright information in both location and name as the last one though.  Which like the other set is different that all the other known sets.

Based on the previous auction, it obviously won't matter, but if it were me I'd be treading very cautiously. But, what do I know?

grodog wrote in TSR Dungeons and Dragons Character Record:I have several of these sheets, will pull them out to take a look and see how they align with the copyright statements.  (Alas, I have no full pads ;) ).

So, I finally took a look at the Character Record sheets that I have, and they're the same as the ones that the seller sold already:  they have the (c) symbol and 1975 and TSR Hobbies, no TM reg/applied for.  They're from Tim Kask's old Kwalishar satchel/materials.

I don't have the 1975 equivalent to the 1976 Game Reference Sheet, however.

Allan.

New posting is for Game Reference Sheets not character record sheets.  From around the same time period and also allegedly only used internally at TSR.  Lots of old time goodies.  :)

Agreed, anything could have been shipped in that box.  IMHO, circumstantially it lends a bit of credence to the seller's story though (the box and what's been auctioned so far are of the same time period).  I wonder if the Acaeum member who won the Character Record has received it yet?  If the Character Record is legit after reviewing it in hand, I think there's a high probability that the Game Reference Sheets are also.

Thanks for clarifying that, I hadn't looked it up yet. But once again, it's different than the previously known copy on here with it not having the "trademark applied for" notice and not being white sheets.
