This is likely the usual problem of automatic set up of auctions: the seller prob forgot to press the comma and instead of 56.00 the final value is 5600

I am truly honored dbartman for your post. I accept the nomination in good spirit. I have no idea what they are worth either but I don't want to under sell them. Think about it, why would anyone want to notch these pristine modules? As well cared for as they are it would make no sense. They had to have come that way originally. As well as the fact that I got them together from the same place. How many combo bonus packs have come up for sale for a long while let alone the one that came with these particular modules? Arguably two of the most collectible first edition modules I might add. I think they have value to the right collector - how much remains to be seen!

I'm always expecting to find myself on this thread too, haha but I wouldn't have any hard feelings if I did. I'm not a big fan of the market value argument for seldom sold items although I understand it's principal. Auctions can be very timing dependant and sometimes really good stuff slips through the cracks cheap. I auction most stuff but like to BIN others. Market value is great for items that sell often there is a clear average over time.

To be fair I've seen these sell from $250-800 although the $800 was from Noble Knight and is definitely an outlier. Plus it was a year or so ago and these don't sell often so looking for previous sold items can be misleading. Only one in past 6 months on ebay.

I have 5 I may list soon and was going to shoot for $500 range and just see. They are near mint though and only 1 has notched modules. Even the recent one that sold had ripped shrink.

I have used the fishing method for obscure items but I will have to agree with dbartman in regards to these 10th anniversary packs. If they are not still sealed with little yellow card they are essentially only worth the module value. Some may overlook the notch and some very few people may look for opened notched modules.

Considering the awesome community here and the valuation board does track prices you can always ask for advise and if you don't like suggested pricing adjust accordingly. Worst case it just doesn't sell.

As a rule (but not universally) notched shrink'd adventures probably came from the Random House (1-time) return of the early '80s. All that came back notched. TSR re-bundled them, as-is, along with little yellow bargain slips... and the rest is history.

I do not agree that notches indicate 10A batching, since the bulk of that return was trashed or ::ahem:: recirculated (given to employees, resold by them 3d10 years later).

When TSR destroyed something, it has been documented. What is less methodically documented is when they didn't. One could find that in past Acaeum threads by searching for the zillion times someone has asked about some flaw, common or unique, that they have found. I don't recall anyone ever considering it valuable or noteworthy (unless the flaw helps identify a certain printing). I do however like to think that my mis-printed Fiend Folio partly exists in another dimension. It doesn't really have a section of duplicate pages, it just looks that way from our universe.
