Just wondering what to bring for the stall. I wont do a proper sort-out until the weather gets better (I have a container in an open yard, and to sort stuff out I set tables up in the yard).

Not just D&D.... Warhammery/Games Workshop stuff, how does that go?

I've got a Chivalry & Sorcery manuscript (I think), some weird Amber trumps (no, not those ones), a runequest module I've never seen on Ebay...  are there heavy collectors for non D&D stuff gonna be there, anyone know please? Or is the Acaeum the "cream of the crop"?

Most of the rare stuff at the auctions went to Acaeum members.  I think you'd be better off auctioining some of the rares rather than putting them in a booth...you'll get a lot of chubby lookie loos, and not much else.  For the booth I'd concentrate on quantity over quality....and yeh all the non D&D stuff sold really well from what I saw at the booths I went to.  

Besides Crazy Egor's, there really wasn't any booth's selling "classic" used gaming stuff (there were a lot of discounters selling 3rd ed stuff, and some non-TSR stuff), except for Troll and Toad.  And if T&T sold more than $100 worth of stuff all weekend I'd be shocked, as their prices there were about 10x ebay prices.  So if you brought stuff like classic D&D I think it would do well, and even non TSR stuff like Runequest, Warhammer, etc.  Just don't expect some random guy to pull $1000 out of his pocket to purchase a rare manuscript or something.

to be perfectly honest with you, it wouldnt matter if you had rares there to "ooh ahh" about or not. there are that many ppl milling about, it can just get lost in the "Melee" so to speak. in the main hall, i would just have a variety of stuff to sell. looking myself, i would rather peruse a variety of stuff rather than just one genre.

for rarer stuff, you would do a lot better in the auction imo. thats where everyone goes for the rare stuff, simple as that. you can also sell stuff in the auction shop too, with a set price.

just a few things to think about imo. i think if you keep your prices competitive, you will have a good chance of selling very well. crazy egor would have done even better than he did, if he would have been more canny with some of his pricing there, but hey, what do i know

the prices. for the standard regular stuff, you see allsorts of prices, some low, some ok, some high. depends on condition etc. the ones that are a fair price, they get snapped pretty damn fast lemme tell you.

Yeah...me too.  I was registered by 2:02 CST.  Too bad the hotel registration isnt going to be as easy.  Going to try for either the Westin, Hilton, or Omni.  Not even going to bother for the Marriott or Hyatt since they seem to be the most popular and fill up very fast.

Quick question for any of you that frequently stay at hotels.  What exactly is a triple or quad room?  A few of the hotels state that they have single king, double queen, triple, and quad rooms.  Never heard of triple or quad.  Are they some type of suite?  Probably wont bother with them as they will be few and either not available in the Gen Con blocks or taken up quickly.  But I read about a couple of hotels that have double queen deluxe rooms with a fold out couch....which would be perfect for three or even four people.

Edit:  By the way, for you guys that are coming from overseas the registration website only ships badges to North America.  Everyone else has to pick up at the will call booth.  If you get in on Wednesday you can pick it up pretty quickly but if you wait until Thursday you will be in line for at least an hour and that is if you get there early.

It certainly will be!  Last year was my first time so it was a bit overwhelming but this year I know I'll get far more out of it and actually game a bit.  Last year I spent most of my time in the auction room.

Wow...signed in at noon sharp and five minutes later I am booked at the Westin.  They must have done some serious upgrades this year.  Last year it took me about 30 minutes to get my room.

Me too!  I'm in!     However for me the savings was only about $19 per night.  (More for the auction I guess   )  Mike you probably have a higher rate in the No-Shrew rooms.   Anyway, after the stories about booking from last year, I was afraid to screw around and try for the Westin since it was on the second page and it would be just my luck to lose out on both the Westin and Embassy Suites.

Seriously, I actually only saved about $150. It's probably a good strategy to reserve a room the beginning of January, just in case. Rooms sold out almost immediately this year..I don't think there is anything left at this point. If you had to, $150-$200 more is worth it for piece of mind knowing you have a room no matter what. Plus you don't have to cancel the reservation until 24 hours before, so you can hold it just in case a friend needs a room...

Sounds like we are going to have a larger Acaeum turnout this year.  Very Good.
