So as a new guy here Ill say hello to all and ask a question about "inking dice".
I am a Gamescience dice fan and partial to opaque dice and using crayon to color the numbers. They normally come out looking really awesome and I roll them at my desk all day just to pass time between phone calls. I recently have come across some "translucent" or "crystal" dice that I would like to color up. They are very difficult to read as they are without any color. So I have started with this orange translucent
d20 thats 0-9 twice...I colored the first 0-9 black and they stand out and are awesome. I go to do the next 0-9+ set and start with red...it blends too much...I try turquoise and its just so-so...blue looks good but its too close to black and hard to differentiate and the spring green looks just okay.
So...Does anyone out there have any experience/recommendations inking the translucent style dice?
As I was rolling my prototype
d20, I noticed that the numbers showed up better or worse depending on the background of the desk. I have a small black magic carpet mouse pad and ALL of the colors looked great when it was rolled there. As soon as the die hit the light desktop though, the black numbers are the only ones that stood out and were easy to read.
