Dungeoneers,

I found a weird one... MTA set Two... Hybrid edition?  Help Appreciated.

Large Lizard Logo and has F-1007 lower corner which would indicate a 1st or 2nd print...right? No? However it does not mention Hobbits level 6 encounter 43.... calls them Halflings.... Which indicates a 3rd print... but because these identifiers are both present it cannot be a known edition, in the Aceaum Collective Intelligence.

Furthermore, it only has 7 pages so the info regarding the printing etc... is absent, at first I thought this was simply a "missing" page... but the more I think about it this was some sort of inbetween printing which left off the incorrect back page as a "fix" but fixed the Hobbit reference...

Call it 2nd Print Beta or 3rd Print Alpha?  Thoughts?

Where did you come across this?

If it came in shrink, then you probably have something new.

If it came from someone's EBay sale, then it could easily be a Frankenstein.

Details! Details!  :D

I do not want to play the Frankenstien card... because of the following... I rec'd it with a set One and Three, both of which are legit 1st prints and complete... and if it was a Frankenstein it would have had to have been accomplished way back when because the pages have the same age yellowing along edges... same goinks and creases... so the pages have lived together for quite sometime... also this seems unlikely as someone would have had to buy a 3rd print after owning a 1st print then comingle it with the 1st and lose the 8th page... considering everything else in the collection was complete... I find the Frankenstein theory to be very remote.

Perhaps it is a "factory Frankenstein".

According to the information gathered here on The Acaeum, TSR stopped using the "F" product codes prior to being forced to discontinue references to hobbits. As was mentioned in another thread, it was not unusual for TSR at the time to put whatever components together that they had to assemble a product, so maybe what you have is a "tossed together" 3rd printing with a 1st printing front page?

Two people in a gaming group, each with slightly different printings?
A collector who was a print junkie & who once got copies mixed up?
A game shop owner who would read new product on the toilet before putting it back on the shelf for customers, & who ran out of toilet paper while reading your copy, thus necessitating a later frankensteining in order to sell it?

I'd hate to wipe the tush with a page from the MTA... that would be harsh... a Judges Guild module would be much better.
