I fully understand that the price of anything is what people are willing to pay. But wow. These sales, good for the seller, are a lot more than the valuation of these on this web site. Is this a limited occurrence or are some of the class 5s starting to increase a bit? I was thinking of bidding on these but I was thinking of a lower number.

I wonder what a #4 or #6 would go for, those ones are on quite a few want lists

Some items like this come up so rarely that the valuation prices are nearly meaningless. There just are not enough sales or they are too spread out to get an accurate reflection.

I was thinking they would sell in the $200-$300 range so was surprised to see them go this high.
But yes, they are rare and probably many of the past sales were helped out because many collectors didn't know they existed or how to price them, etc.
For some collectors it may also be that previously they had higher priority items on their want list but now these are closer to the top.
A good sale for red_bus though - congrats!
We've seen some of the same thing with a few rare small press items like To the Aid of Dwarves or a Lizardman belt buckle, etc.
Whether they stay at this price (and for how long) only time will tell. The Planescape Sketchbook comes to mind - sale hit some huge prices a few years ago but haven't seen one sell for anywhere near those prices since.
