I'm not sure if this belongs on this particular forum. The product I'm inquiring about isn't a TSR product itself, although it is a product about collecting TSR products.

Anyway, my question to those who have this book: is Hunters of Dragons a good collectible guide? I saw an auction for it, but I'm not really sure if I'm willing to spend 28 USD + 19 USD in shipping. Seems a bit much. I know The Acaeum is still a better resource, but I like to have something in my hands to thumb through rather than browse on a computer screen. Particularly so during my travels because my laptop died (I don't have an ipad or anything like that and I don't like to browse the net on my phone because I'm weird like that).

I know it's only covering OD&D and nothing for AD&D, but that's not a problem for me. After all, while I'm keen on collecting 1E AD&D books and modules, my dream is to one day own a woodgrain 1st print and if this book has even just a sliver of information covering those early prints I'm all for it.

Furthermore, the only available version is the variant anniversary edition and may or may not be more expensive than the earlier printing.

I'm indeed the author of this book along Mark Shipley that wrote the Judges Guild chapter. The variant edition has the same price of the regular edition (now out of stock again). I can't of course be an unibiased judge of my own work (but I consider the chapter written by Mark very useful and informative). I can say that HoD is designed to be a collector primer: it has not the level of detail you can find on the Acaeum for example. It's a (I hope) good reference work.

I'm working to get the book available again in the US via NKG having the book printed in the US and so lowering dramatically the delivery expenses to NKG. It's proving vastly more difficult than we thought, but we will arrive there someday. It will be the regular edition again, but incorporating the errata we inserted in the variant edition (some mistakes fixed, some photos replaced, some mopre infos on rare and obscure Japan only D&D products).
