I recently bought an advertisement poster with the art from the cover of Dragon #62.

I would like to find one in better condition, but have had a bit of trouble with what search terms to use.

What do collectors typically refer to these as, posters? ad posters? art posters?  I've tried quite a variety just on google, but also ebay, and with very little luck.

Also, any suggestions on resellers other than ebay and Noble Knight. Nothing wrong with either of them, just hoping to expand my knowledge of available resources. (I did try the links on the main site but some are dead or my rural wireless connection didn't care for the load times.)

usually just poster. Sometimes listed as "art print" if it was specially printed on nice paper by the artist (or the company)
I think that particular one from #62 was a promotional poster from Sears and it's a little harder to come by if my memory serves. It may have been printed again another time and included with something else, but I can't remember. I wouldn't say necessarily it's rare, just uncommon.

One other thing you could do is see if it's available on Larry Elmore's site as a print.

www.LarryElmore.com | Fantasy Artist

actually, I was confusing it with this one
GROGNARDIA: The Ads of Dragon: D&D Poster

I don't see the cover for #62 listed on his site as a print, but you could try and email him.

by the way, welcome to the site! :)

Thanks for the helpful info and the welcome. I will check out both and see what I can come up with.

Mr. Elmore graciously replied on the same day. He didn't remember the cover piece and asked for an image. I sent him one I found on a dragonsfoot.com page. He says be does have that image available for print at 25.00USD and 40.00USD.

Also, note that his website should be complete by next week I believe.

Needless to say I'm stoked. This was a favorite image of mine in childhood and I am looking forward to framing a signed copy.

Tell him to fake-sign it "Ken Whitman"
