Just some information so that everyone is clear about these products. TSRwas approached by a potential licensee who was interested in offering thesemini books as a collectible, impulse-buy item. Although certain distributorshave claimed exclusive distribution rights, and most consumers believe that thereprints are being sponsored through a retailer, this is not the case. In fact, as far as I know, TSR and this licensee have not even signed acontract for these products. In addition, these products are truly mini-books.THEY ARE NOT INTENDED AS USEABLE GAME PRODUCT (sorry for the shouting, but thisis an important enough message to get out). The books will be roughly 1/3 to1/2 the size of a paperback book (maybe 4 inches "tall") with extremely smalltype (probably somewhere around 6 point or under). They are intended as anovelty item, and TSR does not expect them to be used (or very useable) aroundthe gaming table. Again, I just wanted to let this information out so that if these productsdo hit the market, everyone is clear about what they are, and know one willblame WOTC/TSR for misleading folk. Please, please spread this info around as much as possible. There is far toomuch confusion about this possible release.Keith StrohmBrand Manager AD&D CoreWizards of the Coast
First, we're not making them. One of our licensors is, at theirrequest. In Europe, small "mini-books" ment as collectables or keepsakes arepopular; we don't have a similar trend here in the states. When the original information was distributed, a lot of stores andconsumers were either misinformed or misunderstood what they were told- thus the rampant rumors of a "1st edition reprint". That's whatwe're really worried about - that a bunch of retailers and consumersare going to be very, very unhappy when they see the finished productand it doesn't live up to its advance billing.Ryan S.
