I did a quick search and found this thread from 2004;

What Happened to the Vintage TSR Art â€¢ Collecting General â€¢ The Acaeum

Do we have current information on where the original paintings are for the AD&D Monster Manual (Sutherland), Players Handbook (Trampier), Dungeon Master's Guide (Sutherland), Deities & Demigods (Otis), and Fiend Folio (Emmanuel)?

The Dungeon Master's Guide painting was at Gary Con this year. I thought I heard Noble Knight Games owns it.

I think Paul owns the DMG art, hence why it was on display at Gary Con, I snagged a pic of that one too. Aaron owns the Deities and Demigods. I thought Gary (now his estate meaning Gail) owns the PHB cover but I could be quite wrong. As to the other ones, no idea.

I don't recall who owns the FF, but Paul definitely owns the DMG, Gail owns the PHB, Games Plus recently owned the DMG Screen (but it sold), and Aaron owns D&DG.

Do we know who owns the originals for the OD&D booklets?

Looks like you're right on with this info. Aaron just confirmed he has the Deities & Demigods. I just sent a message to "she who shall remain unnamed" regarding the Players Handbook. Who knows if I'll get a reply or not. And Paul is confirmed through grodog for the Dungeon Masters Guide. So, unaccounted for are the Monster Manual painting and the Fiend Folio painting. Three out of five isn't bad!

I wonder if any of the OD&D art even exists any longer? Or if it was a victim of of the "great dumpster purge." :(

Talked to Aaron from Noble Knight again.....

"I know who owns the Monster Manual. He bought it off of an old rec.games.frp.marketplace post for $4000! I remember seeing it and wishing I had $4000 at the time lol.

I've spoken with him, and he is in the same boat as me. He is very financially successful and no realistic amount of money (even over $100,000) would get him to sell it.

Fiend Folio is a mystery! I vaguely recall something about that being in the UK, many years ago."

We used to own the cover artwork to Vol.2 Monsters & Treasure. I also know that all the artwork from Supplement 1 Greyhawk exists and the cover artwork to Gods, Demi-Gods, & Heroes.

Available now from Die Cast Games: Night of the Black Swords by Allen Hammack (Author of C2-The Ghost Tower of Inverness) with artwork by Jeff Easley and Diesel.

-The cover for Greyhawk (Supplement I) was owned by Diesel (David S. Laforce) at one point, after he rescued it from the garbage. See a picture of a display he made here: Sphere of Doom artwork. However, when I chatted with him at NTRPGCon this past summer, he mentioned he had sold a lot of work to a collector overseas (Singapore?) and I believe this was one of the pieces that went there.

-The cover of the Holmes Basic Set by Dave Sutherland is still owned by WOTC and was re-discovered in a crate in 2013 as reported by Steve Winter in a tweet. I also talked to Steve about it at NTRPGCon (after playing in his Gamma World game) and he thought it was now hanging in one of their offices.

You know... That reminded me of a conversation I had with a used book store owner here locally a year or so ago. This store is almost ALL Japanese Manga books and when I asked him if he ever traded any D&D books, he told me that any D&D that comes in, he ships to his store in Japan because it will sell for 10 times what he can get here in the US and it will sell out almost immediately.

Howdy all, i remember a couple of year ago or so, i saw a large sale of artoworks and among them there was also one of the most unconventional pieces which was used for Planescape Planes of Chaos.

Does anyone remember who was the seller? Is the buyer anyone from here?
