(The book was originally his, but it got passed around quite a bit and I ended it up with it somehow.) Under his name are the names and phone numbers of a bunch of his school friends that he used to game with.I'm always a little sad when I see that name. We were friends all through middle and HS. After HS we both joined the AF and didn't see each other much but stayed in touch via letters. After we mustered out, we got an apartment together near a school up north to finish college. But as often happens, we had grown apart and living together put the coffin nail in the friendship. After one year, I quit school and moved back to our hometown and I never saw him again after that.Well, that's life. But I got a PH for free, so....

I had just arrived on base and got settled in when I heard dice on the floor above me. I investigated and found a few guys playing D&D. Became really good friends with the DM and stayed in touch after we both graduated. I moved to Texas after I got out because he said he could get me a job where he worked (didn't work out, but I still lived with he and his wife for almost a year.) After I moved back to Wisconsin, we stayed in touch, but then had a HUGE argument over something really stupid and I tore up his phone number. Remember now, this was well before the Internet and social media, so without a phone number, I had no way to get in touch with him again.Fast forward about 15 years and the launch of Facebook. I got curious one day and did a search for his name, and it popped right up. Contacted him through FB and it was like the intervening years had never happened. Picked up right where we had left off, I apologized for being an idiot and we've been in touch and good friends ever since.
