Site itself is up, forums appear to be toast. Getting the same error.

The forum might not be very active, but the info is great. Worth it just for that.

The forum software is unfortunately hopelessly outdated to the point where it can't be upgraded - a new version needs to be installed which I think means the forums will get lost.  Being old it has been prone to many bot attacks so I had to shut down registration.  If you had an account you can still use it.

Like most projects it is the work of many people and many hours and will hopefully will see a better fate one day when there is time.

Good to know, Mark!  Do you have an archive/backup of the entire forums content?  If not, I know a guy who can generate one via a script-based crawler, if you'd like (he backed up the PPP and NG boards awhile ago).

Allan.

Would the Wayback machine be useful for that?

Sorry, my coding ignorance is showing.    :)

Sometimes, but not always:  some sites disallow indexing/caching by Google or other bots, for example.  Or, the Internet Archive may have captured part, but not all of a particular site/page (I've had this problem many times, unfortunately).

Mark---

It looks like Photobucket's ransomware approach to photo hosting has dropped many of the Tome's pictures (see Tome of Treasures :: View Forum - St. Regis Consumer Products for example).

Do you know if the pictures are in fact available still, and can be relinked/uploaded to another image hosting site??

Allan.

Wow, that's a terrible. I often find myself on ToT when I'm researching something. It hasn't been updated in ages, but the scans they did have were invaluable.

I've lost a bunch of images I posted in forums year ago, but luckily more recently I've been just using my Google account to host images I post in forums.

Several years ago i did a "full download" of ToT...  If you want (and provide me with a solution i can use) i can share it with you... All the pics have been downloaded and i often use it in an offline mode for reaseach...
