I've recently got (back) into collecting D&D and decided to first concentrate on what takes me back to those days in the basement back in the 80's...The Keep on the Borderlands. Acaeum lists this module as $16 in NM, but I can NEVER find it that cheap on any auction site I use. I've purchased about 10 B2's focusing on the first/second prints and only when I'm lucky do I get one at $10 with a condition much less than NM. For the most part, first/second prints in VF+ seem to be pulling $30+.

Has the demand for this module simply increased? Any idea why the going price seems to be so much higher than listed here?

In my opinion, current "going" prices are difficult to track due to their dependence on demand. As far as the Acaeum value list goes, I personally have found it more useful when I focus on relative multipliers. For instance, if it says that a 3rd print is worth $10 and a 1st print is worth $50, I tend to multiply the current "going" rate of a 3rd print by 5 to get an estimate as to what a 1st print would currently go for. This is definitely not a bulletproof method, but I find it accurate more often than not.

I'm also a HUGE fan of B2 Keep on the Borderlands - many of you know that I'm trying to reach a ridiculous number of copies of that book, but each copy seems to get more costly, enough that I've paused on the all-out hunt.

Everything costs more now than it did 5-10 years ago... but it will cost much more in 5-10 more years, so get them while you can! ;-)

Nice to know I'm not the only one. I'm lucky to find one of these prints in fair (at best) condition for less than $15. I've read multiple sources that say this module is too common to demand a premium. In fact, this site claims "These modules are simply too common (considering they were included in the D&D Basic Sets) to command high prices." Is it those of us reliving our youth driving up the prices or is there another factor?

I'm interested in several different printings of B2 and B1. There are bunches of them out there, but they are also iconic adventures. So I can see almost anyone playing today to want to get these and a few others (A, D, G, S-series) with the "oh, what the hell" bid. We like to compare these to used books but think about the more recent gamer that only buys new from a game store. $15-25, that's not a whole lot.

I've said it before, and probably not for the last time.

There seems to be a rather large demand in the older versions of D&D these days across the board. Everything is hitting prices much higher than where it was approximately a year or so ago. Seller's market. Wether it stems from the release of 5E sparking interest, the new PDFs, or some other influence is anybody's guess.

As for the valuations, give it time. It's a recent phenomena. Once the Valuation Board gets more data points, I'd expect the prices shown to rise accordingly.

Well, I see a pattern here. The reason prices for B2 are going up is because you guys are hoarding them all!

Well, I know I'm not helping things with the 75 or so that I have. Still trying to get to 100 copies. Why? I don't even know anymore!

Plus, I don't have anything else to collect except ST1, so I have to spend my money somewhere. :lol:
