worth of rulebooks without boxes

I have searched the site and the forum, but either my google-fu is weak, or this has not been covered as a specific topic. I happen to own a UK/GW (probably 4th print - has Halflings in the text, but no prices on the backside, although the catalogue seems pretty extensive to me) Holmes basic rulebook, which to my knowledge was sold separately, and an expert rulebook of the B/X (Moldvay/Cook) edition. I´m trying to give the items in my collections an estimated worth, as I´m at a point right now that I consider an insurance for it. How could the worth of these items be estimated? Should the Expert rulebook seen as Fair, because the box is missing? As the book itself is in Very Fine condition (might be Near Mint even), this seems off. Any ideas, hints or a pointer to a discussion of this topic?

Not being facetious at all when I say, "It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it."
I literally mean that. If you can get the right buyer, who *really* needs that book to make a complete set, they will pay a lot for it. 4th print? Probably not a lot though. I'd throw it out there for $10 and see what you get. If you get a couple of people bidding each other up, you could make some decent money off it.

Hadn´t looked at the boards for a few days, so I just noticed your answer now - thanks. Yeah, that probably sums it up pretty much, so I will have to make an educated guess and put down some estimate in my list. Not that I want to sell any of my stuff in the foreseeable future, just thinking about calculating an estimated worth of my collection to see if this can be insured somehow.
