I'm sure I am setting myself up to feel stupid, but what does "Acaeum" mean? Apparently its French, but I cant find a definition. All searches lead back here and dictionary.com provides nothing.

I keep telling people about the site, but am not sure how to pronounce it and cant say what it means. Its not on our FAQ list.

Dont beat me up if its right in front of me. I waited over two years to ask. :)

It's not right in front of you, so don't feel bad.  This is also a good reminder for me to re-direct the "FAQ" button above to the real site FAQ, which is here:  FAQ

By the way, the proper reply to someone saying the name is "Gesundheit."

Another public service announcement from your local health department.

Shit, I've been here 16 years and I don't know what it means. A public bathroom in ancient Greece?

LMAO

Phonetically, I think that would be ASS-a-um instead of the correct uh-SAY-um.

In addition to the above, I've heard "Ace-e-um" as in the the Ace of of whatever suit and "A-Kay-um".  To me this hearkens back to the pronunciation wars from AD&D as how does one pronounce "sahuagin" or "ixichitl" or whatever those other fiends are in the Monster Manual and Fiend Folio.  I refuse to accept the 5E pronunciations out of principle because it defuses the argumentation around terms like that!

No soft C's in Latin, hence a-KAY-um. But Scott can call it whatever he likes, as its his baby...

It's not Latin, it's Sanskrit.  You've also all offended a few deities with this discussion, FYI.

 Excellent, I use this joke all the time! (I'd hashtag dadjokes, but I'm too old and uncool :) )
I've always totally said the hard "c" sound too! Good to know. :D

What do we all do when we run across a pile of old RPG items? Assay em.

I thought that Acaeum was a Sweedish Knighhood Ceremony...
