$5,000 in 1987 is $11,320.77 in 2020 adjusted for inflation.

I doubt there are few here who wouldn't take a check for $11,320.77 for their homebrewed fantasy world right now. Though they might be smart enough to slip into the contract a little 1% royalty from all sales in perpetuity.

Why would he sell his rights?  It's not like TSR would have completely off'd the setting.  It was too big, wasn't it?
