I like the smell of old DnD hardbacks.

I like the vanilla, mildewy, slightly musty, this-got-some-humidity smell. I love opening a box and smelling it before I see the books. DnD books dont smell exactly like other old books. They smell better. There. I said it.

Do you have any books that still smell new?

Now that I think of it, I have a nice DM guide that still smells new. It smells like I remember a new DM guide should smell. Is that just a fuzzy memory? Like why people make bad eye-witnesses?

Or am I just creepy and weird for talking about book scents? Im not doing anything torrid with them. Really.

Very well, then. Peeling off the shrinkwrap of a vintage D&D set smells like the bright promise of a new campaign on a warm spring day. The crisp freshness of the pages reminds you of when you didn't yet realize how redundant each new supplement is, or that the scenarios are unplaytested & unplayable. Like your books did before the other players in your group got their grubby paws on them & spilled a Coke on your DMG.
