Someone bought a Dragon #1 without knowing the staples were removed, & it fell apart when picked up. So be sure to let buyers know. I have heard of magazine collectors doing it as standard practice, since the rust can leave a stain & destroy the paper.
That is interesting, I was not even thinking of a saddle-stapled magazine. Those tend to lay flat and use better quality industrial staples.
I was talking about zines, like the
IFW International Wargamer which used three staples. but in this case, think of a stack of letter-sized paper with the three staples going in the left front page and out the back or one staple in the top left.
