I had an original that went to someone else here.
Its not worth reading, and not worth buying at $150. But a signed reprint for $100 is probably a fair price for someone who likes homebrew stuff.
The original was a simple homebrew local copy shop job and the reprint appears to be a direct facsimile of it.
Makes me wonder just how much an original Ruby Dragon would be worth now then?
Presumably Pacesetter have to PDFs they printed from, so there's money there to release on RPGDrivethru and put up a POD option, and split the revenue with he author.

It does say Forgotten Realms right there on the cover (illegally), elevating the curiosity factor a notch.

There were 90 in this signed print run - I see on that first eBay photo it sure looks like 40...the author failed his penmanship save

I remembering offering the guy the PDF, so I don't know whether it was a print extrapolated from my PDF or a rescan done by Pacesetter. I doubt there's any credits in it. I assume its a direct facsimile. I wonder if Pacesetter put their own page in the inside cover. I haven't seen the reprint personally. I would expect a chunk of those are sitting with members here on the forum.

I recollect the back outside cover has a Pacesetter catalog.

I’ll post a side-by-side later on. I have an original too which I count as one of the rarest items I’ve collected.

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Just curious, do either of these reprints come with the pull out hex map in the centre pages? You're looking for a two page spread hex map in black and white.
Dave, I'd be interested in your comparison. Maybe the hex map has been reduced and added to another page if the double spread is not in the centre pages.
I don't recall the map being on the inside of the outer cover. I seem to remember it being stapled all the way through. It

The content is nearly identical. All the pages are layed out the same. Nothing reduced or cropped. Different page orders though.

The hex maps have moved for the center fold to the rear. Pregens pages have moved. Atrax's letter has gone from the back cover to interior pages. So the order's a bit different.

The resolution is nice and bright but this has brought out artifacts - lots of smudges and specks in the reprint.

Most importantly, a page was sacrificed to make room for the Pacesetter products on the back cover. Wilderness map of the Farsea Marsh:

I bought my original from the author. I picked up a couple reprints, one was a substitute for a box set that wasn't delivered.

It's a reasonable & equivalent substitution, because Farsea Marsh doesn't actually exist. It is only a fantasy placed in the mind of the buyer by the manufacturer. (The money you paid is real.)

Yep, as is the one for sale at $149.
So Dave and Brett have originals.
And, unless the PDF I sent to the author was then given to Pacesetter Games, Bill Barsh has probably got an original too.
I wonder how many other original copies are actually out there.
I can think of a few other items that I’ve only ever seen surface once or twice over the past 15 years.
Funny thing is, I doubt an original would sell for any more than that, because the number of buyers is very limited.
Maybe we need a stupidly rare thread in the non-TSR page.

I have an original of this as well and likely a couple others do as well so probably around the 5 known originals out there.

I think a big collectible aspect of it is the "Forgotten Relams" on the cover. A number of the GaryCon and NTRPG limited modules have sold well in recent times - particularly the signed ones.
