Hello folks:

This may have been asked before but I could not find any data. Does anyone know who was the artist for the Demogorgon piece that appeared in Eldritch Wizardry?

The interior illustrators listed in the credits are Dave Sutherland, Tracy Lesch and Gary Kwapisz

Looking at their style at the time I am leaning towards Sutherland or Lesch. I suppose it could even be someone uncredited.

I always thought that was Sutherland and still do. I think he drew to whole set of demons in there. The Type VI/Balrog (page 3), Type V (pages 26 and 34), Type I (page 30), Type IV (page 32) and Orcus (pages 34 and 35) are all signed by him. The others are unsigned but to me are all by the same hand but with varying levels of detail. He then redid all of them for the Monster Manual.

Compare the toes on Demogorgon to those on the Type I and Type II demons.

I think the only one by Gary Kwapisz is the minotaur/thief on page 13 and the only one by Tracy Lesch is the Lich on page 28.

Thanks! I think you are spot on. I appreciate the detailed insight. As I look at the other demons, even the scaling on TYPE II is similar.

Orucs is definitely signed by Sutherland, agreed.
