I've seen many photocopies and printouts of PDFs, but this is the first time I've seen a reproduction boxed set (White Box) for sale.

** expired/removed eBay auction **

The box is only partially shown in the first photo. The item's description mentions the books are genuine, but the box is a replica.

Hello Mrs. Cleaver, Theodore.

Gee, Mrs. Cleaver ... That certainly is a lovely dress.

At that price?  with no pics focused solely on the box?  mention of the replica nature of the box at the very bottom of the description?

kind of seems shady

Well, congrats to the seller... it's the most difficult part to be reproduced!

I'd be curious to have some more pics and a description how he made it... from the only pic of the auction it seems a good work!

I'm the seller.  The listing isn't intended to be "shady."  The box was listed as replica, and since a replica has zero value, I didn't focus pics on it.  The books are authentic and are the target of the auction.  The replica box is just icing on the cake, and to let the buyer know that the books weren't stored loose, nor will they ship loose.

As to how the box was made, it was pretty easy.  Troll Lord Games (TLG), the publisher of Castles & Crusades (C&C) OGL game, sold a digest-sized version of their rules as a starter set.  They purposely made the set reminiscent of the 1974 White Box D&D set, and sourced a rather high quality box that neared the dimensions of the D&D box.  I simply ordered a copy, printed the 1974 White Box graphics on contact paper and carefully applied it, trimming the excess with an exacta knife.

So the box is really a C&C box with a full size sticker over the front, sides and back.  It really wasn't more complicated than that and I didn't focus pics on it because it wasn't really the focus of the auction being a valueless replica box.

BTW, my forum name on Dragonsfoot is Qomannon.
