I got a T1 first print today. Very mid quality when I bought it. Its wrecked now. It was shipped in the infamous manila mailer with two sheets of bubble wrap. It looks like someone crushed it with a first. The two sheets of bubble wrap are fine though. A 45 year old first print bought for $39 showed up beat to hell from bad packaging. This is how this stuff is treated from time to time in 2024.

Good news is The Acaeum forums save me from going to therapy.

Feel free to scream at the clouds here concerning bad packaging, crazy ebay photos damaging the item, or other things that basically wreck collectables.

Hopefully you can get a full refund.

I bought some magazines from ebay on Friday lunchtime - several items which filled in some missing spots for me in one of my collections. They sent me a question asking me if I wanted any more info or photos - suspecting that they knew something was badly wrong with the items I asked them just to double check someone hadn't removed all the pull-out sections - they cancelled first thing Saturday morning saying that lots of them had missing pull-out sections. I said which ones (as it didn't matter if I already had them) and they listed two of the ones I wanted (funnily enough, the ones which aren't for sale on ebay elsewhere at the moment) and said "and a couple more". When I expressed an interest anyway they stopped replying.

I should have read the buyer feedback more carefully, as now I'm going to be the fourth person they've done this to. I think they saw the Noble Knight prices are got cold feet - or someone gazumped me sending them an offer after the sale was concluded. The price was fine, though a good deal for me, this wasn't someone accidentally selling a super-rare for £100.

I'll hang on and eventually pick up all three I wanted for less than the whole collection, but the whole thing is rather a downer.

Yea. Overall these issues are so rare, its too easy to remember them. For me, its best to walk away and end those conversations as quickly as possible. I tell myself there as just some really young sellers out there.

Someone wanted a valuable old gaming item made into a pdf so they wouldn't have to accidentally damage it using it, but were too lazy to do it themselves, I said I would do it. They sent it to me...an item whose last sale was around $2000...in you guessed it a padded envelope with no poly bag or backing boards. Who knows why but it arrived perfectly intact. Not insured or signature required or anything either. Their explanation was they didn't have any polybags or backing boards on hand nor any boxes. Well, ok, I guess...sheesh. Could have been a disaster. Lucky went to the PO Box and not the home address.

This thread is so boring and negative, I recommend not reading any further.

Entropy is real. The sum of condition whittling away as this stuff gets mailed around like yard sale oddities.

I bought a nice looking Baltron's Beacon I7 that showed up with a completely mauled corner. I did message, asking for it to be packed carefully. It was bagged, no board, in a mailer between two pieces of cardboard; but it wasn't tapped to one. So it slid around and one corner got completely F'ed. Pressing might help if I still graded it, and I would pay for pressing anyway, but its still damaged now.

Why do I post this stuff? Keeping a journal helps? idk.

I did get a Moldvay basic set at HPB for $30 yesterday. So that was cool. :)
