I know there is a mapping program out there that has a setting that creates old school blue background grid maps (you know, the classic 1st edition feel).

Does anyone know what this mapping program is? I'm looking to transfer some homebrew stuff to digital, and want that old feel (if blue counts as "old feel") 8)

Hi Nevcoup.
The classic style blue map maker is available for download on Dragonsfoot website. Here is a link.

I can't find it.  Can you give me even more specific directions?

You need Dungeoncrafter

http://www.dungeoncrafter3.com

And the Blue old school tile set:

Hope this helps.

You will need the 'older' version for this to work.

They also have original TSR tilesets on the DC1 link

Just a quick note I had a look at the older tiles and the newer version.  Basically the old tiles are in bit map format and the new tiles are in png format.  They have also increase the size from 20x20 pixels to 72x72 pixels.

While the tiles cannot be directly used in the new version.  It wouldn't be too difficult to modify the old blue tiles to suit.  If there is enough interest I will do so.

I tested one of the old tiles and converted it to a png of the right size and it worked fine:

Thanks all!
I am suprised that so many others would be looking too 8O
I love the old feel and when I decided to make some homebrew stuff look more polished I knew I had to have the old blue.

Thanks again! :D

Paul, I will look at doing it this week ... When I am done you can test and make sure I have sized the tiles correctly.  Cheers.

I have done the easy part with is convert to png and scale to 72 x 72.  Now comes the hard part. Individually cleaning each one up with an icon editor.

Cheers
