I'm basically wondering if anyone has the following magazines:



Games and Puzzles January 1977 issue

Strategy & Tactics May/June 1977 issue

Phanta Carta (not sure what issue, but one before July 1977)

The Dungeonmaster (Iowa based fanzine from 1977)



What I need is to know what information pretaining to Judges Guild (reviews/articles) there is or better yet a scan/photo of said pages would surfice. If anyone knows of other magazines barring Dragon, Dungeon or White Dwarf with Judges Guild information that would be helpful.

Have issue 4 of Phanta Carta, May 1977. What are you looking for? There doesn't seem to be any mention of JG in it though.


This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Hi Shane,

I've read through the issue I have (Vol.1 No.4 11 May, 1977) and there is no mention of Judges Guild in there at all.

The body of the text is presented in a newspaper style, written as if it were a newspaper from a fantasy campaign, and the text refers to the goings on within the Senate, the actions of the heredetory Overlord and the politics of various parties (traders, elves, merchants, seamen and the like).

Could it be that this is meant to be a newspaper published within CSIO written by a gaming group playing that campaign?

Journal M was the first to mention reviews in other magazines/publications for Judges Guild..

Phanta Carta from that is said to be a fanta-zine for the Empire of the Celestial Wizard published monthly (does not ring as anything JG, but a review was done in one of these zines never-the-less)

As the original editor and publisher of the Phanta Carta, I really have to ask how a copy found its way to England ?

I may have a copy of the S&T mag, I recently bought a bunch.  Will have to check and get back to you, Shane (and it's probably best to remind me that I need to check and get back to you ;) ).
