I will be releasing Journey and Treasury at the same time. Journey is being written in our Portal to Adventure
RPG rule set (plug plug) but as long as you are playing AD&D, it can be used virtually as-in and your players won't notice [NOT true for any 3.x game or later]. A Games Master doesn't HAVE to have any of Bestiary, Treasury, Maladies, or Primer to use Journey, but having the background material will make your life easier…virtually all of the explanatory material has been moved out of Journey. If you don't have Bestiary and Treasury, you will be making up a LOT of stats for encounters and for the loot.
Journey actually consists of at least three 'books,' maybe four. Book One gets you into Inferno and takes you to the Styx on the Fifth Circle. Book Two passes the Walls of Dis on the Firth Circle and goes as far as 130 more pages takes you. If needed, the 'module' will be finished in Book Three. The other book is called Denizens and it has all of the NPC stats in it (this one could be pretty big as well). So the module will always be a bundle of books. I may even make Denizens available as a separate purchase, just because a Games Master can always find a use for a bunch of pre-statted characeters (some are Good aligned, many are evil, some are monsters, some are Devils).
If you don't get anything else, I recommend Gehenna Primer, which talks about spell restrictions, food binding, and other useful background rules…Journey is structured with the assumption that Adventurers don't have an easy magical way out (Planar Door doesn't work, for example).
Each of Inferno books can be bought separately. I will be putting together a bundle with Journey, Bestiary, Treasury, Codicil, and Primer. After Blood and Mire comes out I will see if I can put together a print-on-demand of the first two GAZ, kind of proof of concept; this might be out in June or July?? If all goes well, I will look at
POD for Journey, and do a
POD of GAZ 3 and GAZ 4 at the end of the year.
Looking into my very hazy crystal ball, after that…..Inferno: Oasis of Koessa April 2015, Inferno: Samael's Tower January 2016, Inferno: Diabolic Palace: November 2016, Ruins of Lindoran: Foriell's Vault June 2017.
