Not worthless, but significantly reduced in value. Once they are laminated they are pretty much relegated to playing copies. If a rare it can still bring decent money though simply because not many of them exist!

I've laminated several including a T1-4.  Good thing too since I've ran three parties through it!

Yup, depends on what it is.  I'm fairly sure you could soak a Fazzlewood lighter fluid and someone would still give you a couple hundred bucks for it.  

Incidentally, is there such a thing as an unlaminated UK print MM/PHB?  I haven't seen one yet.  It would appear to be an extremely common practice.

Boy. isn't that true.  And the ones that weren't laminated are usually quite rough.  Softcover books were, and still are, a bad idea.  But, if they wear out faster they sell more copies :x

*chuckles*. My very thought when reading this post, Deimos.

I do have VF copies of both the GW MM and PHB, unlaminated.
Rare in the extreme...
