I know that these items can vary greatly in price, but $48.51  8O  for a monochrome B1 that is being advertised as being . . . "in good condition overall. The cover shows normal wear. There is some staple rust. The inside pages have some writing in pencil but are free of any highlighting." with almost seven (7) hours left in the auction.

You paid a reasonable price.  A mono B1 is not worth $50 USD in the States, or anywhere else.  That being said, occasionally a person unfamiliar with its value might pay far too much, but that's the nature of eBay.

(A B1 with the "Games Workshop Fairy" logo, in other words one made in the UK, is worth slightly more but still nowhere near $50 USD.)
