I'm in process of writing an article for DM Magazine regarding the most collectable GURPS books and I'd like some feedback. So far I have identified as 'rare' these products:

1st and 2nd edition boxed sets (of complete)
Prisoner
Middle Ages (first edition)
Conan
GURPS Traveller: Behind the Claw

Any comments? Infos?

I've heard that Riverworld is hard-to-find, along with Chtorr I think.  Illuinati was OOP and pricey for awhile, too??

Ice Age varies.

Sometimes it seems hard to find and you have to fight off other interested parties, other times it seems like the market is flooded and you can pick up a copy for the opening bid.

I think this is pretty typical of most of the GURPS books listed here so far.  None of them seem to be consistent high priced sellers.

A good example are the GURPS Traveller books such as "First In".  A while back we discussed this one because it was selling for a high price even though you could still find them at various places on the shelves.  Some of this price bubble remains when you see copies in Ebay stores for $90+ but in an open auction, they are currently selling in the $20-$25 range.

When I cleaned out my GURPS Traveller stuff a few months back, I think I got about $15-25 each for First In, Behind the Claw, and Starships.

I have seen them go for more than that (before I got Starships for cheap, I had been watching numerous auctions that eventually ended in the $40+ range), but it's definitely not consistent.

Well, I'd say that a lot of GURPS books - third edition ones especially - can be bought dirty cheap, especially when coming in lots. $ 20-25 for an used (?) gaming book is not so bad after all. But we could work on some kind of rarity level. For example, we could use a rating varying from 1 (easy to find) to 5 (very hard to find)

Then there is Roleplayer. They are dirtty cheap when you find them, IF you find them, but the first issues perhaps are not that common - I worked quite a lot to find them (luckily a friendly US Marine sold me its entire collection some years ago after not getting any offers on eBay - I got lucky :))

It seems there is a significant number of GURPS collectors our there...  8)
